Pranic Healing

?Pranic healing can be described as the body’s ability to siphon outside energy as well as the body’s natural energy, and direct it to healing ailments in the body. Life energy, also known as “prana”, is an ancient science and art that dates back to 1987. It was first developed in the Philippines by Master Choa Kok Sui, formerly a trained Chemical Engineer and businessman. Born on August 15, 1952 in Cebu, Philippines, he dedicated his life to finding ways to improve the health of others and studied under several different spiritual guides.

After 30 years of studying healing techniques, different forms of meditations and esoteric sciences, he developed the concept and system of Pranic Healing that is widely known in the world today. Master Choa Kok Sui traveled to over 60 countries, personally teaching people how to utilize Pranic Healing and published 25 works of literature, before he passed away on March 19, 2007. Master Choa Kok believed that the energy that was inside of us and surrounded us, affected our emotions, relationships, success, and our ability to cope with stress. “Life Energy or prana is all around us. It is pervasive; we are actually in an ocean of Life Energy.

Based on this principle, a healer can draw in Pranic Energy or Life. ” Energy healing has been practiced in many different cultures such as the Chinese culture which call this energy “Chi” and the Hebrew culture which call this energy “Ruach” or “the Breath of Life. ” Indian culture refers to this energy as Mantra healing. Techniques that are utilized by Pranic Healing include meditation, lucid dreaming, and the use of crystals and colors. Although this idea can be considered as mere superstition, these techniques are now garnering more attention given their claims of positive effects on the body.

It is based off of two principles, Law of Self-Recovery and Law of Life Energy. Law of Self-Recovery states that the human body has the ability to heal itself even without the aid of medication. Law of Life Energy states that the human body must have inner life energy in order to exist or be alive. Prana is the life energy that keeps the body alive and well. The natural state of the energy in the body should be balanced between the physical and emotional states. When the energy becomes unbalanced, the body becomes unhealthy. The body is unable to function properly and leads to emotional stress which accumulates and results in illness.

In Pranic Healing, the body’s natural life energy aids the body by accelerating the body’s ability to heal itself. It is not a form of healing that is meant to cure or replace hospital visits and medicine but rather to complement it. There are several levels to learning Pranic Healing. As the levels increase, the techniques get less simplistic and the use of colors and crystals are implemented as well as the ability to heal severe ailments in the body increases. As with any skill, constant practice and study is required to gain proficiency.

Pranic Healing was set up by Master Choa Kok so that anyone would be able to learn as long as they had the discipline. The third level of Pranic Healing deals with the treatment of emotional and psychological factors that a person may harness. During an interview with Joy Papeck, who has been studying Pranic Healing for 12 years, she states that Pranic Healing has changed her life. Working as a real estate agent in the United States, she discovered the wonders of Pranic Healing from a Philippine family and moved to the Philippines so that she could study it thoroughly in its place of origin.

During the interview and info session to a group of about 30 nursing students at UERM located in Quezon City, she conducted a group meditation called Twin Hearts. Meditation on Twin hearts is a form of practice used in Pranic Healing. It is based on the principle of self healing through chakras which are major energy centers located on the body. The heart chakra is the center for empathy such as forgiveness, understanding, and kindness. The Crown energy is the gateway to achieve spiritual enlightenment.

The two chakras are connected. By developing the emotions of the Heart chakra, spiritual enlightenment can be achieved by the Crown chakra. This form of meditation is used to cleanse the body of negative energies such as stress, depression, and other forms of emotional distress that can lead to ailments of the body. From my experience in the group meditation held at UERM College of Nursing, I am unable to reinforce the healing claims of Pranic Healing but I am in awe of the basic idea behind it.

After the meditation, my head felt as if it was full of extreme pressure. As the day passed by, the pressure slowly dissipated and I was left with a feeling of clarity. Although I have not yet seen the healing miracles of Pranic Healing, I am not hesitant to keep on studying this idea.
