If Alex drinks six 12-oz sodas per day, how many sodas does he consume in 1 week?
6 x 7 = 42 sodas/week

fraction:
a part of a whole; often a dose that must be administered is not a whole number

1/3 is ___ than 1/4
greater than

1/4 is ____ than 1/3
less than

fractions: number on top called:
numerator; part of the whole being divided

fractions: number on bottom called:
denominator; represents total number of equal parts in the problem

if the numerator is smaller than the denominator, the fraction is called a ___ ___
proper fraction

improper fraction:
means the numerator is larger than the denominator; it is top heavy

common denominator:
number that is a common multiple of two (or more)denominators

LCD
least common denominator; finding the lowest number into which both denominators can be divided to keep the fraction small makes it easier to work with

to find the LCD of two or more fractions:
1. list the multiples of each denominator
2. compare the lists
3. the lowest number that appears on all lists is the LCD

factors
numbers multiplied together to make another number

largest common divisor
biggest whole number that reduces multiple whole numbers

dividend
the number you want to reduce

invert
flip the numerator and denominator over

to reverse multiplication, invert
the fractions you are dividing and change process to multiplication instead of division

decimal
similar to a fraction, but with 10, 100, 1000 and so on in the denominator; write as a decimal point (not as a fraction)

scored
tablet that is easily divisible into accurate doses

tablet: for 0.04 – 1.49 (not scored)
give 1 tablet

tablet: for 1.50 to 1.99 (not scored)
give two tablets

divisor
number doing the dividing
