Can we imagine a world where every single person had the same accessibility and quality of health care? What would it take for it to be achieved? The desire to ensure this dream is actualized has prompted me to apply for a Master’s public health program in Global Health Leadership. My encounters with patients around the world have inspired me to attend New York University to acquire the knowledge and education to impact the healthcare industry. Being raised in Morocco and investing a portion of my medical training there, I experienced the sensation of helping people beyond by medical abilities.

Though my occupation as a doctor was apparent from the start, the engagement in public health became a necessity. I could not avoid my desire from becoming an expert in public health sector. My experience in a rural medical center without innovative resources not merely educated me on how to resolve problems when challenged with emergent and complicated circumstances, additionally it exposed me to perceptible health concerns and challenges a developing country might confront.

The transition towards a much more developed country like France, where I finished my training, was fascinating and enriching. I had been privileged to work in far more contemporary medical centers providing the advantages of technological advancements which demanded my professionalism and provided experience with more challenging patients. Finding myself personally empowered by a real effective system, I could truthfully not help researching and asking myself everyday on how I could improve health care in underdeveloped countries.

What can we learn from this developed and effective health care system and how can we implement it in ours? What is the right approach? I had many questions, but very few unclear answers and the desire of studying the matter developed. When the idea of pursuing my career in the US came along, I was given an opportunity for an internship. From this experience, I met obese patients and was allowed the gift of sharing my knowledge to help those patients build healthier habits so they could live long, fulfilling lives.

This opportunity helped me transform my life from being self-centered to someone who can have a significant impact to my community. Healthy lives help to enhance the communities and nations economic prosperity. It is through my internship that I received an incredible education enlightment to act in a manner that is parallel with my principles of living a healthy life. This opportunity enhanced my craving for pursuing a master’s degree in public health. I want to share with my patients, not only my experience but educating my patients on how to live healthy.

Good health affects so many more aspects of our lives, including our physical health, mental health, job ability, and our relationships. I want to help patients, through preventive medicine, get healthy and stay healthy. A master’s degree in Public Health at New York University appeals to me a number of ways. First of all, the institution is amongst the unsurpassed institutions in the nation. Secondly, the institution has been in service for more than 150 years and has trained numerous people who have helped to transform the public health sector.

I would like to be among those individuals who will help in further transformation of the public health sector. Thirdly, the institution prepares students to apply principles of ethical reasoning as well as professional practice to advance health equity as well as social justice in the US and globally. Upon completing the degree, I wish to work in an institution in which I can provide my expertise and convey valuable perception and contribution to my colleagues and students.

My ultimate objective is to support nations around the world in improving health outcomes and limiting health disparities. In a nutshell, given the chance to purse a master degree in public health I will unlock my unexploited potential. Furthermore, being a very ambitious, caring, a great team leader and a hard working person equipped with excellent interpersonal skills, and having a diverse clinical experience in 3 different health systems and a solid research background, I have no doubt that I will be a great asset to your program.
