Percutaneous coronary intervention entail a variety of procedure used to completely alleviate or reduce the symptoms of coronary heart disease, one such procedure is the balloon angioplasty which involves the inflation of a balloon guided using a wire, which produces pressure inside the coronary artery hence crushing the plaque responsible for atherosclerosis.

Other procedures used include stent implantation which provide a scenario whereby the arteries are held in matter there cannot collapse for along time, pervious these stents used to be coated with drug but with time there found to cause delayed thrombosis which have made people to biodegradable coating for stents.

Laser atherectomy basically it uses the principle of laser energy control which is able to penetrate the shallow tissue without causing injuries to the vessels to be treated, it has minimal invasive technique, offer faster patient recovery with reduced systemic complication, however the procedure predisposes the patients to ischemia, therefore it only offer an option for the patients who have succumbed multivessel infrainguinal disease according to (Grande and Rico 2007)

Intravascular brachytherapy is a procedure done to people who have succumbed to artery blockage after undergoing angioplasty where the affected area is treated using radiation to prevent the reoccurrence of a blockage,

Management of the stent is very important considering the consequence; the is observed of any sign of complication and she is given medicine to relax the arteries and is advised not to involve her self any strenuous activity for about one week this is achieved using aspirin and clopidogel which can be used together with glycoprotein inhibitors and not less than four weeks for bare metal stents, for drug stent a period of three to six months is highly recommended to prevent the adverse effects, a loading dose is required for clopidogel in order to achieve a threshold for inhibition of platelet aggregation which is about 300mg, however this can be achieved two hours prior the intervention Percutaneous coronary intervention by administering 600mg of clopidogel. Currently there exist triple therapy drugs for antiplatelet effects (aspirin cilosteizol and clopidogrel).
