Hydroxyurea
Hemoglobin of 4.2 indicates toxicity
Platelets of 75,000 indicates toxicity
Neutrophils of 1,400 indicates toxicity
Used to treat sickle cell anemia

Dopamine
Given for cardiogenic shock
Increased BP indicates effectiveness

Cholinergic Crisis
Administer Atropine, an anticholinergic agent, to reverse cholinergic toxicity

Epinephrine injector
Administer IM
Massage site for 10 seconds after injections

Rosuvastatin
Given for hypercholesterolemia
Adverse effect is myopathy which can progress to a fatal condition, rhabdomyolysis- pt should notify MD if pt experiences muscle pain or weakness

Pegfilgrastim
Used in cancer patients to increase WBC count

Tranylcypromine
Antidepressant
Pt should move slowly when changing to a standing position
Avoid tyramine foods

Lithium
Avoid taking ibuprofen

Ciprofloxacin
Can be given to pt with sulfa allergy
Contraindication: tendonitis

Spironolactone
Potassium sparing diuretic that can cause hyponatremia
S/E: lethargy, which is an indication of hyperkalemia

Timolol
Beta blocker
Can worsen condition of bradycardia

Sumatriptan
Used for migraines
Monitor and report chest pain

Isotrentinoin
Used for severe acne
Must take pregnancy test bc it is teratogenic- 2 tests before initial prescription and 1 test before monthly refill

Diphenoxylate/atropine
Antidiarrheal
Can decrease intestinal motility and peristalsis so should monitor for abdominal dissension

Prednisone
Assess for edema

Metropolol
Monitor for bilateral crackles in the lungs

Methotrexate
Taken for rheumatoid arthritis
Stomatitis (mouth sores) is an indication of toxicity and should be reported

Trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim)
Should drink 8-10 glasses of water daily

Lisinopril
Monitor and report dry cough

Amitriptyline
Has anticholinergic effect of urinary retention which pt should report to MD

Risedronate
Treatment of osteoporosis
Should sit upright for 30-60min after taking to reduce adverse GI effects of esophagitis and dyspepsia

Zidovudine
Used for HIV/AIDs
Monitor hemoglobin
